Fri, 07/24/2020 - 09:00 -- Whitney Mayo

July 2020 Conway, Arkansas

“Providing rapid and secure access to previously unavailable patient information from Emergency Departments has really helped identify high risk patients” Donna Strickland, Administrator of Arkansas Pediatrics of Conway. This in turn allows us to meet the Medicaid PCMH program and Arkansas Children’s Care Network (ACCN) metrics of tracking your high-priority beneficiaries, following up with patients within 10 days and knowing the high utilizers to the ED, whether it is a the Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Ozark Health, Conway Regional Health System, Baptist Health, CHI St. Vincent or UAMS Health.

The Arkansas Pediatrics of Conway is a pediatric care physician office located in Conway, Arkansas.  The Arkansas Pediatrics of Conway has been part of central Arkansas for many years. They have (7) providers that include (4) MD, (3) APRN’s that see around ~9,000 patients. Why SHARE? Use of SHARE continues to help our clinical staff resolve challenges of having access to patient information when we need it. The ability to efficiently and securely access and exchange patient health data has long been a difficult challenge to resolve for Arkansas Pediatrics of Conway.

Now with the addition of new value-based incentives such as demonstrating many metrics in gap closure with the clinically integrated network- Arkansas Children’s Care Network (ACCN), Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and similar, SHARE provides the clinical data when we need it.  Use of SHARE enables a collaborative environment between our healthcare providers in our area and surrounding hospitals to improve the effective and secure exchange of patient health information. Some of the benefits of using SHARE are to have the patient information flow into the patients’ chart from when a patient is admitted or discharged from a hospital. “Before SHARE we rarely had this information when the patient was seen by our provider”, stated Donna Strickland.

Arkansas Pediatrics of Conway is committed to providing comprehensive, family-centered, compassionate care to children and their families. We have four board-certified pediatricians and three nurse practitioners who see patients ages newborn through adolescence. In addition to providing well and sick childcare, our clinic is also equipped to meet more specialized needs. This includes the treatment of infectious diseases, asthma care, allergy evaluation and treatment, the management of adolescent patients, and the follow-up care of premature infants.

Accessing critical patient information at the point of care using SHARE allows connecting patient encounters, which before was a fragmented healthcare system, where information was kept in silos has improved our clinic.

Clinicians and staff from Arkansas Pediatrics of Conway are focusing on quality improvement, strengthening physician relationships in their area of referrals, SHARE offers the technology and processes to enhance the quality of data we receive in real time. With 75 hospitals and over 1,800 provider practices across the state currently using SHARE to make critical health information accessible when and where needed in a HIPAA-compliant environment, connection to SHARE has brought a high value to their clinic than ever before.
